On his first tour of duty, he was an active part of the Iraqi Civil Defense Corps, tasked with defending civilian areas from insurgent attacks. As part of Operation Enduring Freedom, he was sent to Afghanistan for a second time. Deweese was responsible for protecting military convoys and other valuables.
Deweese completed his military obligation and earned a business administration bachelor’s degree from Rockhurst University.
