The Golden Disc Awards announcement 2023

The Golden Disc Awards

The Golden Disc Awards is an annual music awards ceremony in South Korea that recognizes outstanding achievements in the music industry. It was first held in 1986, and is organized by the Music Industry Association of Korea.

The awards are presented to artists who have achieved significant success in terms of album and digital sales, as well as music streaming and downloads. The ceremony is also known for its “Digital Song Division,” which awards the best digital singles of the year.

The Golden Disc Awards is considered one of the most prestigious music awards ceremonies in South Korea, and many popular K-pop artists and groups have received awards at the ceremony throughout its history. The ceremony typically takes place over two days, with various performances and special stages by the nominated artists.

Winners List :DGA Awards

A Judd Apatow-hosted gala at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles will reveal the Directors Guild of America’s 2023 DGA Award recipients.

The DGA’s president, Lesli Linka Glatter, gave a warm welcome before introducing Apatow, who has previously presented the annual show three times.

The comic offered several jabs during his opening monologue, making fun of the fact that the performance was only being live streamed “to the back of this room.

This programme is so pointless that it’s surprising Elon Musk hasn’t already purchased it. The crowd responded enthusiastically to his joke about “honoring the directors who didn’t feel a need to produce a Pinocchio movie this year,” and he also made a note of the absence of female directors nominated in the top director category this year.

Female directors were left out of the theatrical feature picture category when the nominees were revealed in January. Sarah Polley from Women Talking and Gina Prince-Bythewood from The Woman King were two notable omissions. Instead of Tár, Joseph Kosinski’s Top Gun: Maverick, Daniels (Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert), Martin McDonagh’s The Banshees of Inisheer, and Steven Spielberg’s The Fabelmans received nominations.

The first-time director category, however, had far better results for female directors, with four of the five nominees going to women: Alice Diop for Saint Omer, Audrey Diwan for Happening, Antoneta Alamat Kusijanovic for Murina, and Charlotte Wells for Aftersun. John Patton Ford, the director of Emily the Criminal, was also a nominee in this category.

This year, some people have complained that there are only five male nominations for best director, but that is untrue, according to Apatow. “Two guys are among the nominees” (cut to the Daniels).James Cameron must be struggling after producing yet another one of the most technically advanced movies ever and losing out on a DGA award to two people who produced a picture featuring a dildo battle.

Six DGA Nominees, from Spielberg to Kosinski, Share Their Secrets

The drama series’ first award for outstanding documentary was given out by Jason Bateman, who was nominated for one of Ozark’s episodes. “Katia and Maurice really died for their filmmaking,” Fire of Love’s Sara Dosa told the audience as she accepted the award. “Fire of Love” is not about their deaths; rather, it’s about how they lived, and they lived for their love for volcanoes. They, in my opinion, passed away meaningfully.

“Top Gun: Maverick” received the most applause during the yearly pre-DGA Awards nominations seminar on Saturday morning (after a breathtaking clip of Tom Cruise soaring in an F-14). The “Everything Everywhere All at Once” directorial team, the Daniels, received the most laughs on these panels as usual. Even the crowded audience at the DGA joined in on one of their usual hand- and foot-waving warm-up exercises.

There may not seem to be much new to learn from these talented filmmakers after a lengthy season of continuous PR exposure, yet DGA moderator Jeremy Kagan managed to get the following pearls from them.

  1. Brendan Gleeson assumed that his character had been suicidal before the start of “The Banshees of Inisherin” during rehearsals. He could be tough about it since severing his connection with Colin Farrell’s character in the future was a need for survival.
  2. The moment Spielberg saw the actors portraying his mother (Michelle Williams), father (Paul Dano), and younger self (Gabriel Labelle) in full costume, the filmmaker started crying. For a small-scale movie like this, the director doesn’t plot or rehearse; instead, he receives notes from his actors in the morning while they are getting ready, debates how to use them with his co-writer Tony Kushner, and decides on camera angles and blocking when he gets to the set.
  3.  At “Everything Everywhere Everything At Once Casting, “‘s Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, who directed Stephanie Hsu on the TV series “Awkwafina Is Nora From Queens,” remembered Stephanie Hsu’s skills when Awkwafina encountered scheduling issues. Stephanie Hsu has theatrical training and can sing and dance. They discovered that Hsu was capable of hitting whatever pitch or tone they threw at her. The casting process for Michelle Yeoh’s spouse was more challenging since the actors who could do martial arts were strong males. He was truly lovely to begin with, so the filmmakers were delighted to hear that martial artist and actor Ke Huy Quan was searching for acting opportunities once more, inspired by the popularity of “Crazy Rich Asians.”
  4. Todd Field and Cate Blanchett were able to discuss the situation for an additional nine months on “TAR” as a result of pandemic delays. While working on other projects, she engaged a conducting tutor to help her hone her athletic conducting style so that the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra would warmly embrace her the first time she performed for them.
  5. Joseph Kosinski planned the on-location filming schedule for “Top Gun: Maverick” around the early morning and early evening magic hour light since he had to adhere to the aesthetic of the first movie. Also, a premium coffee truck was always present on the site every morning due to Cruise.
